Projects abroad

Iraqi Kurdistan

Amel France is currently in the process of drafting a project in the camp of Bardarash, Iraqi Kurdistan. At the moment, the NGO PU-AMI (Première Urgence-Aide Médicale Internationale) is on the ground and supports the camp management. This organisation also intervenes in delivering medical equipment and medicinal products.

The project steered by Amel France, plans to implement psycho-social activities in favour of internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in the camp. The Shabak community, predominant within the camp, forms the target group of the project.

Humanitarian issues are numerous among the people living in the Baradarsh camp. Thus, Amel France wishes to support PU-AMI in the implementation of primary health care and psycho-social activities. Indeed, displaced persons have witnessed extreme violence and suffer from psychological trauma. In addition, women and children, particularly vulnerable in this context, lack access to basic services such as education and protection. Moreover, living conditions in the camp add to the instability and the vulnerability of the beneficiaries.

Therefore, Amel France wishes to adopt a participatory approach by collaborating with actors on the ground in order to improve the psycho-social well-being of the population in the camp and in the long run elevate their living conditions and their prospects for the future.

A project to support Yemeni refugees in Obock, Djibouti is being identified.

Kos Island, Greece

A project to help migrants from the Middle East and Central Asia is currently in progress. A first evaluation was carried out in July 2015 and two Amel France volunteers just came back from a one-month exploratory mission on the islands of Kos, Leros and Kalymnos.

Non-governmental actors are numerous on the ground providing basic services to the population in need. Amel France wishes to get involved and help the local civil society through capacity building activities. The program is currently at the drafting stage.
